For more than ten years, Switzerland Tourism (ST) has been putting together accommodation packages for the domestic market in collaboration with the retailer Coop. ST reaches 70% of all Swiss private households via the “Coopzeitung” magazine alone, thanks to a total circulation of 2.5 million copies in German, French, and Italian.

The collaboration has grown and developed over many years. ST succeeded in establishing a bookable product that enjoys great popularity. The booking process takes place via coopzeitung.swisshotels.com directly, and the Switzerland Travel Centre is responsible for the background processing.

In 2023, the offers generated a total of 19,459 hotel overnight stays. ST also achieved almost 18 million media contacts in the “Coopzeitung” as part of its close collaboration with Coop by placing product media topics.

“Swisstainable on the move” with Coop

As part of the “Swisstainable on the move” campaign launched in 2023, from 20 June, domestic guests were able to book sustainable packages at a total of 37 hotels participating in the Swisstainable sustainability programme in Swiss tourism for the first time. The outward and return journey by train in 2nd class was free for the first 2,400 bookings and was then offered at a 40% discount – thanks to the financial support of partner SBB, the public transport industry and Zurich Insurance. These packages were also advertised via Coop’s own high-reach channels, and were advertised heavily by SBB and ST on their own channels and through paid activities.
