Run the Swiss Cities

In the Basel video of Switzerland Tourism's "Run the Swiss Cities" campaign, Roger Federer surprises with a brief appearance.

“You look like you could use a cool down – how about a visit to the Rheinbad Breite?” Roger Federer gave runners this personal tip about Basel in his surprise appearance in the Basel video for Switzerland Tourism ST’s “Run the Swiss Cities” campaign. The past months and years had posed major challenges for the Swiss tourism industry, but above all for city tourism. Together with leading Swiss sports brand On, ST therefore laced up its running shoes and exclusively launched a city campaign in the summer of 2022. Various video clips invited guests to discover the Swiss cities on foot.

Jogging tips for the cities of Basel, Geneva, Lugano and Zurich

Using Basel, Geneva, Lugano and Zurich as examples, the diversity and uniqueness of Swiss cities was presented to guests. The short films were played on various digital platforms (such as Facebook and YouTube) in Switzerland, but also in Germany, France and the Benelux countries. For each city, there were several suggested running routes (5, 10 and 15 kilometres) to suit every level and preference, available for download on the popular sports app Strava. The ten-kilometre “Culture Trip Geneva” route, for example, can be found here. The recommended routes are both of value for tourists and interesting from a sports perspective, and have been compiled by experts and locals.
