“Super tour!” said Christoph Bosshardt from Basel Tourism, speaking for all participants of the major “Grüezi Germany” tour in spring 2018. Switzerland Tourism ST organised this three-day roadshow in May 2018. Together with the 33 partners involved and the Swiss comedy duo Lapsus, ST travelled in a postal bus to Munich, Stuttgart and Frankfurt. Germany is Switzerland’s largest foreign market.

A total of 280 guests, comprising journalists, travel agencies and event planners, took part in the events. Lapsus led the evening, and their unique mixture of cabaret, acrobatics and clownery made for a great atmosphere. The perfect setting for making fresh contacts and cultivating existing ones, exchanging news and showcasing the Swiss summer with all it has to offer.

Healthy figures for overnight hotel stays in summer

For the summer campaign “Nature wants you back – on your bike.”, ST handed out information material and giveaways from strategic partners. “It was a great evening with lots of information and the best hosts you could imagine,” said Kai de Graaff, CEO of Ameropa, expressing his satisfaction with the event.

All the effort paid off: in summer 2018, the number of overnight hotel stays rose by 3.6% (+51,297) compared with the previous year, according to the Federal Statistical Office. The year-on-year figures for the full year were positive too, as can be seen in the market overview.
